Eamonn Holmes set to leave This Morning for GB News after 15 years on ITV

Eamonn Holmes is set to leave his presenting job on ITV after presenting This Morning for over 15 years.

The 61-year-old and his wife Ruth Langsford have been favourites on the morning breakfast show for years but now the Belfast man is reported to be making a move to another news channel.

Eamonn is reported to become a major signing for GB News which was launched in June with a brief to “champion balanced debate”.

According to The Mirror , a source said: “Eamonn’s move to GB News marks the end of an era. He’ll be missed by many ITV viewers but, the truth is, this job offer probably came at just the right moment for both him and ITV. All good things come to an end.”

After the launch of GB News, Eamonn seemed to give his stamp of approval to the channel and wished it the best for the future.

He tweeted: “I hope GB News gets a decent chance ... we need a shake up on the news front. May it keep all the other news providers on their toes. I have huge respect for TV news but this is a reminder that news is not just Westminster or a constant woke agenda.”

The news comes after Eamonn had landed himself in hot water with ITV bosses after comments he made about 5G and the coronavirus and a few months later, he and Ruth lost their Friday morning slot to Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond.

It is unsure what Eamonn’s departure will mean for his wife as the duo have been fronting the This Morning sofa during school holidays for years but the Belfast man is expected to make his GB News debut in the new year.
