Eamonn Holmes says a dislocated pelvis is the cause of his excruciating pain battle

This Morning presenter Eamonn Holmes has revealed the cause of his chronic pain.

The TV presenter said it started when he "mysteriously" dislocated his pelvis - triggering back problems.

The 61-year-old has spoken openly about his battle with chronic pain recently - and his plight has left him struggling to sleep, reports the Mirror Online.

He has been through an MRI scan - the results of which he has not revealed - but he has now said some more about his recent struggles with pain.

The Belfast man told The Irish Independent : "I mysteriously dislocated my pelvis and I don't know how — it's not as erotic as it sounds.

"My back is now out of alignment as a result."

The This Morning presenter said he has been having ice cold showers as well as physiotherapy to ease his discomfort.

However, he admitted the pain "hurts like hell".

He added: "Nobody knows what it's like unless they live with someone who has it.

"I'm in huge pain and nobody knows how to stop it.

"This hurts like hell and I need to find a way to overcome it. It has lasted a month and it feels like I can't remember what life was like without the pain."

There is some good news, however.

Eamonn this week revealed he is going to be a grandfather.

He shared the revelation on This Morning with wife Ruth Langsford by his side.

He told viewers that his son Declan and his daughter-in-law Jenny are expecting a baby.

Eamonn said: "And they have just announced that I, together with Valerie and Robin, Jenny's mum and dad, and Gabrielle, Declan's mummy, we're all going to grandparents! I'm going to be a granddad!"

After Eamonn revealed the news, Ruth began clapping and said she "loved it".
