Her acceptance speech lead the Eamonn to reflect on a car crash interview he had with Mariah Carey many moons ago.

Speaking to Matthew Wright, Eamonn said: "The last time I met Mariah, she insisted on doing the interview lying down because she was tired.

"I said to her, 'You're tired? I've been up from 4 o'clock this morning, you're now four hours late for this interview!'

"So I said, 'I'll lye down with you'... That didn't go down well, the interview didn't happen."

Matthew burst into laughter along with Ruth, as Eamonn added:

"I said 'We rather both do it sitting up, or both lying down, but there we go, Happy Christmas, Mariah."

Fans of the show took to social media, asking for more details: "Ha I really want to hear more about the when @EamonnHolmes met @MariahCarey story now!! @thismorning #ThisMorning @ITV ".
