Eamonn Holmes likes mysterious tweet about 'cruel' TV world after This Morning axe

Eamonn Holmes liked a enigmatic post about the "cruel" showbiz and TV world after This Morning axe.

The presenter and his wife Ruth Langsford, both 60, were dropped from their usual Friday slot on This Morning.

Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary will step into their high-flying presenting roles.

Now Eamonn has added fuel to the fire as he liked a cryptic Twitter message from a fan.

American journalist Kinsey Schofield wrote: "I really enjoy you and your wife. This business can be so cruel.

"I will continue to support you and whatever you decide to do next. Congratulations on so many brilliant years executing the job wonderfully."

Eamonn responded: "Very kind of u to say Lady K... Appreciate it.."

The presenter was on a liking spree as he gave the thumbs up to many of his followers sending their support (Twitter)

Some of those fans shared they were left "gutted" and "sobbing" over the This Morning axe.

ITV finally released an official statement about welcoming Alison and Dermot into the This Morning family following the shake-up.

The statement read: "We are pleased to announce that Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary are set to join the This Morning family as regular hosts.

"The dynamic duo will share hosting duties with Phillip Schofield, Holly Willoughby, Eamonn Holmes OBE and Ruth Langsford from January 2021."

Recently, Ruth emphasised the couple had worked hard to get where they are in TV.

Many took this as a stab at Alison finding fame on Big Brother but Ruth's representative was quick to point out Ruth's comments weren't aimed at a particular star.

She told The Mirror's Notebook magazine: "We've put the work in. We didn't do a reality show and get an overnight job on the telly.

"We've come up through the ranks. Eamonn was only 19 when he started out. And he was doing the teatime news in Belfast during The Troubles.

"It was heavy stuff. And he's now got an OBE for services to broadcasting."
