Eamonn Holmes has been forced to use crutches to help him walk after suffering three slipped discs in his back.
The Belfast man appeared on Loose Women alongside his wife Ruth Langsford on Wednesday and opened up further on his current battle with chronic pain, reports Liverpool Echo.
Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash joined the couple on the ITV daytime show and asked the Northern Irish presenter how he was.
Joe said: "There is nothing worse than seeing you in pain because you are such a jolly fella."
Ruth admitted it had been hard seeing Eamonn suffering and said: "It's very difficult seeing him in pain, you feel helpless actually."
Eamonn revealed he had three slipped discs and that "it's pretty bad".
He said: "I've had to come on with a crutch today, that's the way I am at the minute, it's pretty bad.
"I'm having steroid injections and hopefully I'll be on the mend soon."
The broadcaster has been opening up on his chronic pain battle and says he struggles to sleep at night, but is surprised at how many others who are also suffering.
He said: "I couldn't sleep at night while Ruth was sound asleep, honestly it was awful, trying to sleep was awful.
"But we're six weeks down the road now and I've got the injections which has taken away the acute pain and I can sleep and that is a blessing, absolutely great.
"But the physicality of not being able to walk straight, but I'm going to embark on a whole rehabilitation programme, I'll get fit, I'll get strong, but it will take a while."
