Eamonn Holmes' Homes Under The Hammer dream after 'fury' at losing This Morning gig

Eamonn Holmes would love to lay the foundation for a career extension – as a house show host.

The This Morning fave, 61, has spent lockdown doing up his own gaff and reckons he’d be a hot property on the homes front.

He said: “I should have presented Homes Under The Hammer. I mean, it has my name written all over it. I love houses. I could go round showhouses every Sunday.”

Eamonn recently showed off one of his own home projects on social media – a cinema room with a Man United theme.

And he told Vicky Pattison’s podcast he loves picking out wall colours and soft furnishings, unlike wife Ruth Langsford.

Eamonn said he suspects “traditional” Ruth, also 61, will not like the copper handles he has picked out for the brown wood in their Surrey kitchen, adding: “That’s how I’m spending lockdown, looking for handles for cupboards.”

The couple were reportedly “furious and upset” at being replaced on their Friday This Morning slot by Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary. They will now cover for Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield in the summer.

Earlier this week, Eamonn made a twilight plea to fans for help him sleep through his chronic pain.

He tweeted 2.32am Friday, "In that Twilight Zone between Night time and Morning. Anyone else find these Hours the worst.... particularly if you suffer Chronic pain ?"

Fans rushed to sympathise with him and kept him entertained while Ruth was sleeping by chatting with him.

When one fan told him she suffered pain in her knees and coccyx after years of playing hockey, Eamonn responded: "No one told us all the pleasure would lead to this pain Kate. Thinking of you . Hope u can fall asleep again.."

As one woman told him she has fibromyalgia and a complex pain syndrome, Eamonn wrote: "Poor you Sandra..... no one really understands do they ? Sending you the most positive of wishes x"

As he engaged with his fans, Eamonn admitted that the nights are the worst for him when it comes to his chronic pain.

And when someone suggested he tries CBD oil, Eamonn said that "everything is worth a try".
