Eamonn Holmes has heartfelt message for wellwishers after This Morning slot ends

Eamonn Holmes has a heartfelt message for wellwishers after his and Ruth's regular This Morning slot ended on Friday.

After 15 years, the couple will no longer be weekly presenters on the ITV daytime show.

Instead, the Friday will be presented by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary.

However, it is understood Ruth and Eamonn will continue to present over holidays on the show in 2021.

The Belfast man posted a video on his Facebook page just before noon on Saturday, saying: "Your messages are the best Christmas present Ruth and I could have wished for from the bottom of our hearts, thank you."

He said in the clip: "I just want to say something to you all from the bottom of my heart and that is, thank you.

"Ruth and I have been absolutely overwhelmed yesterday and today by the amount of messages and we have been replying on social media, by email, by text, by Whatsapp, whatever we can.

"But could I just generally say, thank you, thank you, thank you.

"We do feel the love, really appreciated but stop it, stop it now. It is Christmastime, mistletoe and wine. We've all got things to do so thank you - get on with your lives, we certainly intend to get on with ours.

"Things are looking up, my sty is nearly gone, the sun is shining.

"I just want to say to all of you, have a very merry Christmas and please stay safe.

"Thank you very, very much all of you."

Yesterday marked the couple's last Friday show on This Morning.

Eamonn also took to Instagram on Friday with an emotional statement, saying: "We bow out of 15 years of our Friday slot on This Morning today.

"Thanks for the memories, hope we made some for you too. Until February, may it be a Happy Christmas to you all."
