Eamonn Holmes delivers barbed on-air remark about Ruth Langsford marriage while discussing Nicole Kidman divorce

Eamonn Holmes delivered a sharply worded remark about marriage while discussing Nicole Kidman’s split from country star Keith Urban on GB News Breakfast.

The 65-year-old presenter interrupted co-host Ellie Costello after she said she found the couple’s separation “very sad.”

Costello, 31, pointed out that Kidman and Urban had been together for almost two decades and share two children.

“I think that’s very sad. They’ve got two children together,” she said.

Holmes, whose marriage to Loose Women presenter Ruth Langsford ended in May 2024, cut across her with a blunt observation: “None of us know (what went on).

“The two of them could have despised each other and absolutely wanted to walk away from each other and we think it's awful... We don't know!”.

Undeterred, Costello, who married this summer, replied: “Well I think it’s sad when any marriage ends.”

Holmes then fired back with a caustic response: “That's because you've just started (your marriage). You haven't got to the bitter and twisted part yet!”

The exchange came as Kidman, 58, confirmed she had filed for divorce from Urban, 57, after 19 years together.

According to People, the Oscar-winning actress “feels very betrayed” and was left “shocked and devastated” by the split.

Kidman and Urban, who married in 2006, share two daughters, Sunday, 17, and Faith, 14.

They were last photographed together in June at the FIFA Club World Cup in Nashville, though insiders say they had been living apart for several months before the divorce filing.

Elsewhere, Holmes and Langsford shocked many when they announced their split last May after 14 years of marriage and 27 years together.

He has since moved on with relationship counsellor Katie Alexander, 43, and earlier this month treated her to a getaway in Belfast.

It has now been claimed Langsford just “wants the divorce over” and feels her life has been “put on hold” until it's finalised.

“Ruth's pals think Eamonn is slow at coming forward regarding the finances,” a source told The Sun.

“The general feeling is that Eamonn is slowing up the divorce - he's currently in Belfast with Katie introducing her to the wider family, determined to show her how serious he is about her - showing her the life she could have.”

The insider added: “Meanwhile Ruth just wants this divorce over. She's cracking on with her QVC range and everything else, but is constantly reminded this is looming.”
