Eamonn Holmes breaks silence after his and Ruth Langsford's This Morning replacements are revealed

Eamonn Holmes has spoken out after This Morning bosses officially confirmed who is getting his and wife Ruth Langsford's Friday slot.

The pair have hosted Fridays for years now and, as well as they themselves said to be "furious and upset" at losing the slot, many viewers have also hit out at producers for taking it from them.

Well, on Monday afternoon This Morning issued a statement to reveal that, as expected, Alison Hammmond and Dermot O'Leary would be taking over Fridays from January, with their first show together being January 8.

Eamonn and Ruth will remain part of the team, stepping in for regular presenting duo Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby during, what bosses are calling "key holidays."

And Eamonn was quick to react to the news going out.

Taking to Twitter, he posted: "It’s a changing of the guard on Fridays from January. We hope you make Alison and Dermot as welcome as you’ve made us over the years. Have a Ball you two !

"It’s not Goodbye from us, it’s simply Au Revoir until the next half term."

Fans of Eamonn and Ruth were quick to react to his tweet, with one responding: "I’m disappointed with this decision Eamonn. I only watched because of you & Ruth".

Firmly agreeing with that point, another told Eamonn: "HORRIFIC MISTAKE,As much as I like Alison & Dermot I won’t be watching.Terrible that they’ve got rid of you & Ruth after all this time," and a third replied: "You’ve both been treated so shabbily by This Morning, you and Ruth are the most popular and well liked of all the presenters.

"Get your own morning show and it will be the best, I guarantee it!"
