Dr Zoe was talking at the time about how your health can benefit from gardening and alpacas.

Eamonn then said: "Your hair reminds me of an alpaca today."

Dr Zoe laughed: "You just want to pet it, don’t you? It’s very alpaca-ish."

She added: "Don’t touch my hair," as she pointed her pen at the camera.

According to Belfast Live, one Twitter user reacted to the comment and said: "Really just saw Eamonn Holmes comparing a black woman's hair to an Alpaca."

Another added: "First @EamonnHolmes needs to apologise for his racist comments. This woman’s hair is none of your damn business!"

A third said: "It wasn’t humorous it was vile and unnecessary."

Eamonn later posted an apology on Twitter saying he is "mortified" after the remark was branded as "disgusting" with calls for him to be 'fired'.

He said: "Hey everyone out there. if my attempt at being humorous with my friend @DrZoeWilliams was misjudged I am mortified and humbly apologise to anyone who was offended."

One fan replied: "Don’t worry about it. @DrZoeWilliam s laughed it off and didn’t seem at all bothered," while another added: "You could never offend anyone Darling."
