Eamonn Holmes apologises after 82-year-old blasts 'pure c**p' BBC licence fee

Eamonn Holmes apologised after an outspoken elderly guest blasted the "pure c**p" BBC licence fee.

Ivy Siegfried appeared on This Morning today as declared that she would rather go to prison than pay the licence fee after it was scrapped for the over-75s.

Matthew Wright and Ivy joined Eamonn and Ruth Langsford as they gave their opinions on the news of the day.

But addressing the licence fee, Ivy fumed: "Some elderly people just go ahead because they’re terrified.

"That’s why the BBC are picking on the elderly."

Eamonn responded: "Well I wouldn’t just blame the BBC, I think you’ve got to blame the last Conservative administration on this one under George Osbourne as well.

"Do you know what I think is appalling and condescending?

"They say to people like you, 'Okay dear you can get on the bus and if you want to use the train you can have it for free.'

"But the actual thing you depend on most, the television and radio the thing that keeps people company more than anything. No, you’re going to have to pay for that. That’s the immorality of it."

Ivy agreed, responding: "It’s pure c**p!"

"I couldn’t have put it better myself," Eamonn laughed.

She continued to rage, saying: "Why are we paying for Gary Lineker to sit on his backside and get paid £2 million for talking football with a couple of his pals.

"No chance, I’m not doing that."

Even though Eamonn had agreed with Ivy, he was forced to apologise for her language and said: "If you were offended by Ivy’s four letter word we’re very very sorry."
