Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford to start 'TV war' if they don't 'win back' This Morning

Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes are being replaced on This Morning.

And the TV couple, both 60, are reportedly "not afraid to start a TV war" if bosses decided to give them the boot in favour of Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary.

According to an insider, Ruth and Eamonn feel "angry" that they could no longer be hosting the much-loved show on Friday's and plan to front a rival show on a different channel if they are handed their notice.

The TV insider told Heat: "They are now planning their own TV talk show to rival This Morning, hopefully on the BBC or Channel 4. They’ve had lots of offers from TV companies who are keen to snap them up, and neither of them are afraid to start a TV war, just like Richard and Judy did when they went to Channel 4.

"Still, they’re really angry with how they have been treated."

And proving that despite the whispers that they could be out the door of the ITV studio, a source close to the TV favourites told new! magazine that the pair are still hoping they can win back their slot due to fan support.

“Theres been no confirmation of the changes, so Ruth and Eamonn are both holding on to the hope they could win back their slot," the source shared with the outlet.

"They hope the public outcry will change the bosses’ minds to that they could do a Monday show or the Wednesday and then Alison and Dermot could do the Friday.”

Responding to the claims, a This Morning spokesperson told the glossy magazine: “We have a stellar presenting line-up on This Morning in Holly and Phillip and Eamonn and Ruth. Any additions to this line up will be announced in due course.

Last Friday, Eamonn and Ruth let viewers know that they have not been let go from This Morning yet.

As they wrapped the episode, Eamonn said: "Thanks for watching today folks! We will be back next Friday to do it all again!"

The TV veteran then went on to thank fans for their support as he added: "We couldn’t do it all without you!"

A number of fans are not happy about the duo being replaced.

One typed after Friday's instalment: "Eamonn and Ruth are the best presenters on there. Would love to have them full time on there. Shall miss them."

A second added: "Is this for real?! Alison & Dermot replacing Ruth & Eamon?! SURELY NOT.... @RuthieeL and @EamonnHolmes are my faves!!! They make @thismorning do not let them go!!!!"

Another praised: "Classic bants between Eamonn and Ruth today. @thismorning, their chemistry is IRREPLACEABLE; you are making a big mistake. #ThisMorning."
