Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford set to make return to This Morning during the summer

Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford will return to present This Morning next month, it's been confirmed.

The husband and wife duo will front the popular ITV daytime show for seven weeks over the summer.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, Ruth said that they will be covering for Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby while they take time off for the summer.

"I'm looking forward to it," she added.

It comes after viewers complained when Ruth and Eamonn didn't return to our screens earlier this month to present This Morning during half-term.

The couple were dropped from their regular Friday shift last year in place of Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary and it was announced they would only present the show during school holidays.

Phillip and Holly continue to present the show from Mondays to Thursdays.

When asked by OK! Magazine whether she talks to the show's newest presenters, Ruth replied: "I speak to Alison all the time. She's a friend of mine."

Ruth and Eamonn have been known to bicker on air before, and the presenter said they "always" have disagreements before the show goes live.

"People who work with us know that. There are lots of presenting couples who aren't couples. Phillip and Holly, and Dermot and Alison – they don't go home together and argue about who has put the milk away or who hasn't," she said.

Ruth and Eamonn presented their final This Morning as Friday presenters back in 2020, having first joined the show in 2005.
