Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford losing This Morning slot was "horrendous", says Coleen Nolan

Coleen Nolan has described Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford losing their This Morning slot as "horrendous".

Eamonn and Ruth were replaced for their Friday slot on the ITV daytime show by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary in December 2020 after 15 years.

Speaking to OK! magazine, Coleen opened up about Loose Women co-panellist Ruth losing the slot and said: "Yeah, it was horrendous. There’s loads I could say about the politics that goes on in our industry.

"But you can’t fight it, you’ve just got to accept it. And that’s hard because she’s a friend who I think is brilliant.

"I just want to say, 'That decision doesn’t make sense!' I think we’re in an industry where age and looks come into play."

Eamonn and Ruth now cover the show during school and summer holidays.

Before their final show, the Belfast broadcaster said: "We bow out of 15 years of our Friday slot on This Morning today. Thanks for the memories hope we made some for you too."

Eamonn later added: "I just want to say something to you all from the bottom of my heart and that is, thank you.

"Ruth and I have been absolutely overwhelmed yesterday and today by the amount of messages and we have been replying on social media, by email, by text, by Whatsapp, whatever we can.

"But could I just generally say, thank you, thank you, thank you."
