Eamon Dunphy believes Stephen Kenny deserves to get new contract for doing something 'very courageous' with the Ireland team.
The former Ireland player has often been critical of the tactics employed by previous Ireland managers, but the pundit has never hidden his admiration for Kenny.
Speaking on the Late Late Show, alongside Liam Brady, Dunphy said: "When you consider where Stephen Kenny started and what he inherited I think it's remarkable what he has done.
"I think the young players that have come in, as well as people like Shane Duffy and Seamus Coleman, have responded to him.
"I think he's shown himself to be a courageous coach, who is willing to play young players in big games.
"He did get a hard time in the beginning, but a lot of people want him to get the job, the public want him to get the job, and most commentators want him to get the job."
Arsenal legend Brady thinks the FAI should not rush into giving Kenny a new contract and to seek more evidence that he is the right man to lead Ireland forward.
But Dunphy believes that Kenny should be given a new contract in the morning.
"He is doing something very courageous. He is trying to revolutionist the Irish team. These are young players and they are all playing for small clubs.
"They are very young, they excite me, they excite the public. Liam [Brady] wants to see more evidence but I want him to get the job now."
