Eagles’ Zach Ertz starts virtual coaching and mentoring program for young tight ends

Zach Ertz has had some great coaching and guidance during his collegiate and NFL career and now the Eagles star is paying it forward.

Using his social media platform to make the announcement, Ertz revealed that he’s starting a virtual Zoom style coaching and mentoring program for young high school and college tight ends.

The Eagles’ three-time Pro Bowl tight end, named the program Team Protege and revealed that the idea came to him during a sit-in on a Stanford Business School class.

“I sat in on a Stanford business school class this offseason and being in that environment again pushed me to think outside of the box and how I could give back during this unprecedented time,” Ertz said. “I was taking the class over Zoom so why couldn’t I be the one teaching kids through an online platform, so I developed Team Protege.”

Ertz credited the coaching relationship he shared in high school with three-time 49ers all-pro tight end Brent Jones as part of his inspiration.
