Eagles will not hire an offensive coordinator to replace Mike Groh

The Philadelphia Eagles are set to announce some changes to the coaching staff, but the one announcement you won’t hear is the hiring of a new offensive coordinator.

The Eagles have reportedly named Press Taylor as the team’s pass game coordinator, while Jeff Stoutland will continue to coach the offensive line and be the run game coordinator.

After naming Taylor to his new position, the Eagles also brought in Rich Scangarello, the Broncos former offensive coordinator.

According to Tim McManus of ESPN.com, the Eagles will employ a system of coaches, but there won’t a formal offensive coordinator.

Likely impressed with the model the 49ers employed on the way to the Super Bowl. The 49ers have a passing game coordinator (Mike LaFleur) and running game coordinator (Mike McDaniel) who works alongside play-caller Kyle Shanahan in unison.

The results were a perfect mixture of smash-mouth, zone running plays, mixed in with play-action and a timely passing game.
