Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery passes physical, off PUP list

Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery passed his physical on Friday and was activated off the physically-unable-to-perform (PUP) list, allowing him to return to practice.

Jeffery has been out the entire offseason after undergoing rotator cuff surgery. ESPN reported earlier this week that Jeffery will miss at least the first two weeks of the season, although coach Doug Pederson continues to say that Jeffery is day-to-day. Considering Jeffery has not yet practiced, it would seem unrealistic to expect him in the opening game on Thursday.

However, his passed physical should be considered a positive. If the Eagles had put Jeffery on the in-season PUP list he would have been out at least six weeks. Jeffery will now count against the 53-man roster and can join his teammates in practice. Jeffery has attended every practice session this summer, but he's been forced to work out on a side field. He recently increased his workload to catching 75 passes a day.
