Eagles facing the pressure of ‘Super Bowl or bust’ for 2019 NFL season

The Philadelphia Eagles are facing immense pressure entering the 2019 NFL season, with the offseason hype train rolling even louder than it did during the Birds 2011 season, where the group was labeled a “dream team.” Carson Wentz is healthy, the offense is loaded and Eagles fans are preparing for another run towards the Lombardi Trophy.

For NFL.com writer, Adam Rank, anything less than a Super Bowl for Carson Wentz and company will be viewed as an epic failure.

For 2019 to be a successful season, the Eagles MUST …
— Win the Super Bowl.

And if you could, also keep the Cowboys out of the playoffs. In fact, being the only team from the NFC East in the playoffs would be great. But the Lombardi Trophy is the only goal.

There are some good teams in the NFC, but the Eagles have one of the top rosters (if not the best) in the NFL right now. They are taking a slight leap of faith by going with Wentz, but it feels like the right move to me. Philadelphia is not only going to be a contender for the Super Bowl this season but for some time to come.

For Rank and every other NFL analyst across the league, the additions of Jordan Howard, Miles Sanders, JJ Arcega-Whiteside and DeSean Jackson, coupled with the development of Dallas Goedert, should allow Carson Wentz to reach MVP heights.

Super Bowl or Bust is a huge reach, but to say that the Philadelphia Eagles are entering the 2019 season with aspirations of making anything less than the big game are absurd. They were an Alshon Jeffery dropped pass away from returning last season, and that was with most of the roster on injured reserve or battling injuries.

This group if healthy has all the components to challenge the Chiefs and Patriots wire to wire in an AFC/NFC Super Bowl, and it’ll all fall on Wentz, win or lose.
