Eagles welcome 5 new rookies to Philadelphia

The Philadelphia Eagles entered the 2019 NFL Draft with seven picks but after some wheeling and dealing from GM Howie Roseman, the Birds left the draft with a class that includes five new rookies and a focus on offense that seems to center around give Carson Wentz the protection and weapons he needs to get back to his MVP form.

Here’s a complete recap of this year’s draft class.

Andre-Dillard-Eagles-1st-round-pick

No. 22 – Andre Dillard, OT, Washington State

The eventual replacement for Jason Peters at left tackle and a player Howie Roseman called the best tackle in the draft.

No. 53 – Miles Sanders, RB, Penn State

A LeSean McCoy clone according to Howie Roseman, Sanders will be the Eagles third down back, and will definitely push Jordan Howard for the starting running back job.

No. 57 – J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, WR, Stanford

A touchdown machine and a matchup nightmare, Arcega is a dynamic player in the red zone that should win his share of jump balls.

No. 138 – Shareef Miller, DE, Penn State

The edge rusher from Philadelphia, Miller will have the opportunity to grow into becoming a professional, while having his mother and family around to help with the transition.

No. 167 – Clayton Thorson, QB, Northwestern
The former Northwestern star quarterback, Thorson will be a developmental quarterback like Nate Sufeld before him, who’ll have the chance to compete for the third-string job in 2019 and could ascend to Carson Wentz backup with Sudfeld having lots of value around the league.
