Eagles’ Treyvon Hester hoping offseason workouts with Aaron Donald translate into roster spot

Treyvon Hester will always be remembered for blocking Cody Parkey’s field goal attempt in the Eagles’ playoff win over the Chicago Bears last season.  It was a great moment in team history, but the NFL is a what have you done for me lately league and Hester is back to trying to prove that he belongs among the league elite.

Hester will compete with Hassan Ridgeway and Timmy Jernigan amongst others for playing time behind the All-Pro Fletcher Cox and Malik Jackson at defensive tackle. After an offseason spent working with Rams star Aaron Donald, Hester is hoping to translate what he learned into a big season in Philadelphia.

“Just tried to strengthen as many weaknesses as I had,” Hester told Mike Kaye of NJ.com. “Worked on a lot of hand-placement stuff. [I’m] coming back as healthy as possible and just coming back in the best shape as possible.”

“We’re really good friends,” Hester said. “We kind of [bounce] questions off each other all the time. It’s not really about what’s said, it’s about what’s done. It’s more about seeing how he works out there and how humble he is. It’s going to make you want to compete with someone like that.”

Hester was in great company all summer long, and if he can continue to utilize the tools learned during the offseason, he very could be that fourth defensive tackle along the front line.
