Eagles trade with the Browns to obtain the No. 2 pick in the NFL draft

April 20--The Philadelphia Eagles, targeting one of the two top quarterback prospects in next week's NFL draft, made a trade with Cleveland on Wednesday to acquire the No. 2 selection in the draft.

Last week, the Rams made the unprecedented jump from No. 15 to No. 1, trading with Tennessee to move into the top spot for a quarterback.

The Eagles, who had the eighth pick, gave up a lot to swap places with the Browns. Cleveland gets Philadelphia's first-round selection in the next two drafts, picks in the third and fourth rounds this year, and second round in 2018. In addition to the second pick in this year's draft, the Eagles get Cleveland's fourth-round pick next year.

The top two quarterbacks in this class are North Dakota State's Carson Wentz and Cal's Jared Goff.

The Rams have not indicated which quarterback they prefer, although General Manager Les Snead has said there is a "favorite in the clubhouse." The team is meeting with both Wentz and Goff this week.

The Eagles already have quarterbacks Sam Bradford and Chase Daniel on their roster.

The Eagles have never had the No. 1 overall pick since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger, but they did have the No. 2 pick in 1999, when they selected quarterback Donovan McNabb.
