Eagles trade up, select Andre Dillard with 22nd pick

The Eagles traded up in the first round of the NFL draft to select Washington State left tackle Andre Dillard at the No. 22 overall pick, giving them a potential replacement for Jason Peters.

Dillard, 23, is 6-foot-5 and 315 pounds with 33 {-inch arms. He started the past three seasons at left tackle for Washington State, where he earned first-team all-Pac 12 honors last season and was a third-team all-American. He excelled at the Senior Bowl and is considered a true left tackle, although the Eagles do not need to play Dillard right away.

He was considered one of the top offensive linemen in the draft. He started slipping when there was a run on defensive linemen. He is the third offensive lineman drafted in the first round by Howie Roseman.

The Eagles jumped up from the No. 25 pick to move ahead of the Houston Texans, who were believed to be in the market for an offensive lineman. They dealt No. 25, a fourth-round pick (No. 127 overall), and a sixth-round pick (No. 197 overall).
