Eagles’ toughest roster cuts could come at these five positions

The Eagles are loaded on both sides of the football and appear to have 40+ players who are legitimate roster locks.

That leaves 40+ players competing for about 12 roster spots, and Thursday night against the Colts provides one final opportunity for players on the bubble to land a roster spot.

With Philadelphia having a walkthrough on Wednesday, we’re looking at where the most brutal roster cuts will come ahead of the preseason finale.

D’Andre Swift and Kenneth Gainwell are clearly roster locks, while Boston Scott has special teams intangibles and is a trusted ball-carrier.

Kennedy Brooks is headed for the practice squad, meaning Trey Sermon and Rashaad Penny are battling for one final roster spot.

Penny could be a roster lock, with Sermon needing a miracle.

Darius Slay, James Bradberry, Kelee Ringo (rookie) and Avonte Maddox are roster locks.

Josh Jobe has played his way into being a roster lock, while Zech McPhearson’s season-ending injury has muddy the position up.

Mekhi Garner, Mario Goodrich, Eli Ricks and Josiah Scott are competing for one final roster spot.

Offensive line is a deep position in Philadelphia and the Eagles have 10 players fighting for three roster spots.

As backups, Tyler Steen and Jack Driscoll are locks, while Fred Johnson’s ability to be the primary backup at left tackle has now made him more attractive.

Dennis Kelly, Sua Opeta, Josh Andrews, Roderick Johnson, Josh Sills, Julian Good-Jones, Cameron Tom and Tyrese Robinson are battling to continue on the roster.

Dallas Goedert and Jack Stoll appear to be locks, leaving Grant Calcaterra, Tyree Jackson, rookie Brady Russell and Dan Arnold to battle for one final spot.

we now have a scenario where four players are competing for two roster spots.

Reed Blankenship and rookie Sydney Brown are clear locks, leaving K’Von Wallace, Terell Edmunds, Justin Evans and Tristin McCollum to battle for the other two spots.
