Eagles to sign former Army OL Brett Toth to 3-year deal

The Philadelphia Eagles appear set to add more offensive line depth to the roster, as Adam Schefter is reporting that the team is set to sign former Army offensive tackle Brett Toth to a three-year deal.

Toth had been seeking approval to sign with the NFC East favorites after Donald Trump Toth put in place a special waiver that would allow military academy athletes to get clearance to join pro sports teams upon graduation, rather than fulfill an obligation for active duty. Air Force long snapper Austin Cutting became the first military graduate to sign with a team when he inked a deal with the Minnesota Vikings.

Toth is a second lieutenant in the Army, who graduated as a nuclear engineer in May 2018 and has actually already fulfilled his first year of active military service.

Toth comes with accolades, as he was invited to the Senior Bowl, the first-ever for a West Point grad. Toth hasn’t played competitively in over a year but started 20 games at right tackle for Army in his final two seasons at West Point.

After the Senior Bowl, Toth was invited to the 2018 NFL Combine, where he measured in at 6-foot-6, 291 pounds, with an 80 5/8-inch wingspan, 33 3/8-inch arms, and 10 1/4-inch hands.
