The Eagles and Browns wrapped up two intense joint practice sessions on Tuesday, with both teams taking the day off before Thursday’s preseason game.
Cleveland brought the energy during the first practice on Monday, while the Philadelphia spurred the team on, creating havoc up-front, and drawing criticism from the opposition’s best offensive guard.
With joint practices being the week’s focal point, Jalen Hurts, and other key starters will again sit out, allowing rookies and key veterans to make their case for a 53-man roster spot.
We’re looking at who’s stock up up, and who’s stock is down ahead of Thursday night.
Stock up -- Kenny Gainwell
Gainwell didnt’ play in the preseason opener, and still was the first team running back at the start of 11-on-11 for both joint practice sessions.
He’s valued by Nick Sirianni and his stock grows everyday.
Stock up --Reed Blankenship
Blankenship has been the first team safety for every snap this summer, and logged two interceptions on Deshaun Watson during joint practices.
Stock up ---Tyrie Cleveland
Cleveland was targeted early and often, logging 5 catches on 10 targets for 68 yards.
A wide receiver at Florida during Brian Johnson’s stint as offensive coordinator in Gainsville, Cleveland caught a 27-yarder from McKee on his first pass of the game.
His hot streak continued during the joint practices.
Stock down--Dennis Kelly
Kelly returned to the Eagles, but finds himself in a cross-training conundrum.
Kelly took 41 snaps at right tackle on Saturday and gave up a sack to Ravens rookie pass rusher Malik Hamm in the third quarter.
With Tyler Steen and Jack Driscoll both able to play multiple positions, Kelly could play himself onto the roster bubble Thursday night.
Stock up --Jalen Carter
Carter only needed one snap against the Ravens to show he belongs and he gave Browns’ offensive linemen fits.
Stock up -- Sydney Brown
Brown talks about making the opposition fear him, and against Baltimore, he finished with a game-high nine solo tackles.
His physicality and penchant for being around the football stood out again.
Stock down -- Kennedy Brooks
Brooks had a fumble against the Ravens and was already the odd man out in a deep and talented position group.
He’ll need a major breakout performance agaisnt the Browns.
Stock up --Tanner Mckee
McKee completed 50% of his passes on Saturday, but it was his feel for the game and moxie in the pocket that left Eagles coaches impressed.
The rookie from Stanford completed 10 of 20 passes for 148 yards, with five throws over 15+ yards.
Thursday provides another in-depth opportunity to shine on the preseason stage with Jalen Hurts again sitting out.
Stock up -- Eli Ricks
Ricks has two passes defended and a spectacular 31-yard pick-6 off Anthony Brown in the fourth quarter.
Ricks plays at one of the deepest position groups on the Eagles roster, but confidence can take you a long way, and the former SEC star could regain his Prep swagger.
Stock down -- Ian Book
Book has been outplayed by Tanner McKee this summer and after entering the Ravens game late, the former Notre Dame signal-caller was 1-4 passing, for 11 yards, while being sacked twice. Book rushed five times for 24 yards.
Book would need to be lights out against Cleveland to not see this competition end early.
