Eagles sign Jason Peters to 1-year restructured contract

Howie Roseman said that it was up to Jason Peters on returning and the Eagles GM was a man of his word. The Eagles just announced that Peters has signed a one-year deal.

According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Peterson’s deal was restructured to give the Eagles cap space, as his salary was lowered to $10 million, with $5 million guaranteed.

Peters will almost certainly enter the Pro Football Hall of Fame one day, and his legacy and what he’s meant to the organization is the likely thing that kept both parties in agreement on the restructure. At the NFL Scouting Combine, Howie Roseman acknowledged that his personal feelings for Peters would play a role.

“The hardest thing we have to do is separate the emotion from it,’’ Roseman said. “Quite frankly, we’re an organization, led by our owner and led by our head coach, where emotion plays a part in some of the decisions we make.

“We get attached to our players because they do so much for us. I don’t know that that ever is going to go away as long as this leadership is in place.’’

Now Peters will be back for at least one more season.
