West Coast skipper Luke Shuey has avoided an AFL suspension for a high elbow on Sydney's Callum Mills.
Shuey attempted to break a Mills tackle in the second quarter of Sunday's game at GMHBA Stadium but in flinging his arm back, caught the Swan high with his elbow and forearm.
The Eagles midfielder apologised to Mills immediately after the incident but was reported.
Match review officer Michael Christian charged Shuey with striking but assessed the incident as careless conduct, low impact, high contact, with the Eagles skipper able to accept a $2000 fine.
Shuey, who was playing just his third game for the year after multiple hamstring injury setbacks, had said he deserved to be reported.
"It was sloppy," Shuey told 6PR Radio post-match.
"I got him high so I probably deserve to be on report even though I didn't mean to hit him in the head - but that's the game we live in.
"I spoke to him after the game and apologised but yeah it was a bit sloppy."
Meanwhile teammate Jamaine Jones was offered a $1000 fine, along with Sydney's Tom McCartin, for engaging in a melee (first offence) in the second quarter.
Western Bulldogs young gun Bailey Smith received a $2000 rough conduct fine for a dangerous tackle on North Melbourne's Ben Cunnington in the second quarter of Sunday's game at Marvel Stadium.
Fellow Bulldog Josh Bruce was offered a $1500 fine for engaging in a first-quarter melee (second offence), while Kangaroo Shaun Atley received a $1000 fine for his first melee offence.
