Eagles rookie WR calls playing with Carson Wentz a blessing

DeAndre Thompkins played with a pretty good signal caller at Penn State in Trace McSorley, but that talent can never be compared to what the rookie we’ll see in Carson Wentz. Thompkins has been with the Eagles a few months now after signing as an undrafted free agent and the former Penn State star can’t quit raving about catching passes from the NFL’s highest-paid quarterback.

Thompkins faces long odds in making the team but didn’t mince words when calling it “a blessing” to work with one of the NFL’s most elite passers.

“One thing I would say is he does a good job of elevating everyone around him,” Thompkins said via Penn Live. “He treats me and JJ [Arcega-Whiteside] just like he treats D-Jacc, Nelly and all those guys. He expects you to perform at a high level, and then if you don’t understand something or something happens, he’s the first one to come over and explain to you what you gotta do, why you gotta do it. So to have somebody like that, man, it’s a blessing.”

Thompkins will have to hope that he can offer something in the return game while hoping to impress despite getting limited reps behind DeSean Jackson, Alshon Jeffery, Nelson Agholor and JJ Arcega-Whiteside for starters.
