Eagles’ RB Miles Sanders making his case to be NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year

Miles Sanders has had every carry and practice repetition scrutinized after becoming the Eagles highest-drafted running back since the team took LeSean McCoy over a decade ago. Eagles brass and fans alike have patiently waited weeks for Miles Sanders to become the dynamic playmaker that they envisioned when Howie Roseman rolled the dice on the former Penn State star.

Sanders was able to shine bright on Sunday against Buffalo, as he’s single-handily carried the Eagles offense through the first three-quarters.

After shining in the passing game, Sanders finally flashed his potential as a runner, outrunning the entires Bills defense on an amazing 65-yard touchdown run.

Prior to exiting Sunday’s contest with a shoulder injury, Sanders had three carries for 74 yards and one rushing touchdown. As a pass-catcher, Sanders tacked on three catches for 44 yards against the Bills stout defense.

Now the question has to be asked, when does Sanders get serious consideration for the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award?

The Eagles are currently 4-4 and through Week 8 of the regular season, Sanders has posted some pretty impressive numbers for a rookie, courtesy of 6ABC’s Jeff Skversky.

Despite his slow start and Jordan Howard getting the bulk of the carries in the running game, Sanders leads ALL NFL rookies with 709 all-purpose yards. Sanders is now the first NFL running back since Adrian Peterson, to amass 450+ scrimmage yards & 250+ return yards in his first 7 career games.

Sanders is currently the only NFL rookie this season, with 200+ rush yards & 200+ rec. yards.

All the early rookie of the year talk focused on Kyler Murray, Josh Jacobs, and Marquise Brown, but Sanders has placed his name squarely at the top of the field through the halfway point of this season.
