Eagles RB Miles Sanders hoping to emulate Christian McCaffrey’s versatility as a dual-threat

Miles Sanders burst onto the scene for the Eagles in 2019 and finally provided Carson Wentz with a dynamic running back who can provide burst and explosiveness.

Sanders set the Eagles rookie record for rushing yards with 818 and caught 50 passes for 509 yards. Sanders finished No. 8 in the NFL in all-purpose yards with 1,641 and scored six touchdowns.

Sanders is looking ahead to his second season and told ESPN’s Tim McManus that he’s hoping to emulate the productivity of the NFL’s highest-paid running back.

“When I look at him, I look at a back that’s very hard to stop. I want to be that back,” Sanders said, via Tim McManus of ESPN.com. “I want to be that back where you think you can stop me in the run game and then, boom, I’m outside in the passing game and I’m rolling up yards for the team. I want to be that back where there’s no way you can really slow me down or stop me or take me out of the game because I’m so versatile. That’s the type of mentality and the type of player I want to be.”

Sanders spent the early part of his offseason training in Los Angeles with former Penn State teammate Saquon Barkley and others when the COVID-19 pandemic crisis arose, causing the running back to return to the East coast.

Sanders returned to his native Pittsburgh and has been working out old-school style why bulking up and maintaining his speed.
