Eagles RB Corey Clement says he expects to be ready for season opener

The Philadelphia Eagles are one of the few Super Bowl favorites coming out of the NFC and their odds for reaching the big game in Miami will increase if all the top weapons are healthy and available. With the addition of Jordan Howard to the running back room, there could be an odd man out of the committee approach the Eagles coaching staff utilizes.

One of the more athletic and dynamic playmakers in the Eagles backfield, Corey Clement wants the fans and pundits to know that he’s still here. In fact, while a guest on 97.3 ESPN with Geoff Mosher and NFL Insider Adam Caplan, Clement revealed that his season-ending injury was actually not torn ACL. Hoping to keep his name relevant in the running back room, Clement also let it be known that he would be available for the start of training camp.

“It wasn’t an ACL. None of that. I’m hitting the ground running. You can expect Corey to be out there Game 1.”

After a sterling performance late down the stretch during the Super Bowl season, Clement looked like the guy the Eagles could lean on in years to come. Now he’ll have to fight and scratch for a role and identity in a running game that could feature Jordan Howard and others.
