Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz exits win over Rams with knee injury

LOS ANGELES _ Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz suffered a knee injury in the third quarter of the Eagles-Rams game on Sunday and will not return. Nick Foles entered the game at quarterback.

Wentz took a big hit to his lower body when he tried rushing for a two-yard touchdown. The play was for naught, because a penalty nullified the play. Wentz stayed in the game and threw a two-yard touchdown pass on fourth down to give the Eagles a 31-28 lead.

He then walked slowly to the sideline, where the medical staff evaluated him in a makeshift blue tent. After a few minutes, Wentz was escorted to the locker room. The team then announced he would not return.

In the meantime, the Eagles defeated the Rams, 43-35. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that, per a source, the Eagles are afraid Wentz may have injured his ACL and could be lost for the season.

Eagles coach Doug Pederson said in his postgame press conference that there is no update on Wentz's status at this time, and more information will be known Monday.
