Eagles plan to be conservative with getting Fletcher Cox back on the field after offseason foot surgery

Fletcher Cox is pertinent to any success that the Eagles are going to have this season so it shouldn’t be a shock to many that the training staff and coaches are taking the conservative approach to his training camp. Cox has dressed for all of the team’s practices but has rarely gotten in any teamwork.

That’s likely to be the plan for the rest of training camp according to for Paul Domowitch of the Philadelphia Daily News who reported that Cox will be eased back into the practice rotation.

“Everything is on schedule. I just need to keep following what the [Eagles] trainers tell me to do.”

Cox is in shape and ready to go after spending the offseason training with his friend and fellow Mississippi native, Deon Hodges.

“The team’s doing a great job of monitoring [the foot] and being on top of the details with it, from the therapy to his reps to his conditioning,’’ said Hodges, who has been at the NovaCare Complex during camp helping with Cox’s rehab.

Cox has nothing to prove during this training camp so it’s pertinent for the Eagles to get him the proper treatment while allowing him to grow chemistry with Malik Jackson and others before the season opener.
