Eagles open up roster spot after placing Chris Long on the reserve/retired list

The Philadelphia Eagles placed Chris Long on the reserve/retired list today, according to Adam Caplan.

That’s the normal mode by a team after a player retires, freeing up a roster spot for the Eagles to use with OTA’s set to kick off on Friday. Long retired in grand style on Saturday night, as the former top pick of the Rams was universally loved around the NFL.

The Eagles still own Long’s rights but saved $5.3 million in cap space with the move bringing the cap structure to over $27 million in cap space, according to Over The Cap.
