Eagles’ OL coach on similarities between Andre Dillard and Lane Johnson

Andre Dillard was drafted to replace Jason Peters at left tackle but if you ask offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland, it’s his all-world right tackle that the rookie compares to. Dillard is getting a crash course on left tackle play from is future Hall of Fame teammate, but it’s Lane Johnson that carries similar to traits to the first pound according to Eagles Press Pass.

“He is a lot like Lane (Johnson) when Lane first (started in Philadelphia). I mean, there’s a lot of similarities, a lot,” Stoutland said via Eagles 24/7. “In terms of his athleticism, he was a little more linear. But this individual is extremely quick, fast, and has a lot of good qualities that you look for.

“He’s already developed since he’s been here in terms of his physicality, in terms of his weight. To me, he’s already on that track.”

An All-American at Washington State, Dillard now gets the luxury of a redshirt year as a pro, as long as everyone can remain healthy.
