Eagles OL coach Jeff Stoutland believes Jason Peters can return to his dominant form

Jason Peters is an all-time great left tackle and future Hall of Famer, but 2018 was not one of his best seasons in the NFL. The rust and struggles at times can be attributed to the left tackle attempting to return to form after tearing his ACL and MCL, which caused him to miss the teams Super Bowl run. Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland is a big believer in Peters and believes he’ll have a bounce-back season.

Stoutland is so confident, that he told the Allentown Morning Call that he believes Peters can return to being a dominant player.

“I’m very aware of that. I know him like the back of my hand,” Stoutland said as transcribed by Eagles 24/7. “I think that what we did last year is exactly what we need to do. I don’t think we have to go any more than that, to be honest with you.

“You ever have an ACL (tear)? A lot of people say it takes a year to come back from that, not just physically but mentally. I really do believe, I always felt this way, but he’s going to be a better, more productive player this year than last year.”

Even during a down year where he battled a quad injury and was forced to leave several games because of a biceps injury as well, Peters still only allowed three sacks and 38 pressures on the season. This season, Eagles brass are hopeful that Peters can return to form while sharing his wisdom with the first round pick, Andre Dillard.
