Eagles now have more money committed to the WR position than any other team in NFL

If Carson Wentz thought he had pressure on him to produce before, just the sheer millions allocated to the wide receiver position alone will produce huge expectations. After acquiring wide receiver DeSean Jackson via trade and fully guaranteeing Nelson Agholor’s $9.4 million salary for 2019, the Eagles now have more money invested in wideouts than any other team in the NFL per Bo Wulf of The Athletic via Over The Cap.

Based on the numbers, the Eagles currently have $38.5 million allocated to the wide receiver position in 2019, the highest total in the league.

Jackson was a needed asset, and at 32, the former Eagles draft pick is still the best in the business at taking the top off the defense successfully. In 2018 alone, Jackson led the league with 18.9 yards per reception, and his average yards per target were almost 20 yards per. In comparison, Alshon Jeffery led the Eagles with 11.1 average air yards per target in 2018, placing him in the middle 50 in the NFL, among qualifying receivers.

Expect the Eagles to unleash an aerial assault on opposing defenses each Sunday, with a splash of run and screen game mixed in to keep teams honest. It won’t be your conventional run and shoot attack either, with the Eagles pressuring opposing defense with the two tight end formation also, as Dallas Goedert looks to see his involvement in the offense increase with the addition of an extra safety or defender having to account for Jackson over the top.
