Eagles now have around 27.5M in cap space after reworking Zach Ertz contract

Whether it be an extension for Carson Wentz, the luxury of having much-needed cap space or possible trade for a disgruntled Jets linebacker, Howie Roseman has the Eagles now sitting in the top-10 in the NFL in salary cap space. The Birds just created $5.756 million in cap space, by converting $7.195 million of Zach Ertz’s contract into a bonus, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

According to Over The Cap, the Eagles now have around 27.5 million in cap space available after the Ertz restructure.

Ertz, signed through 2021, is one of the NFL top tight ends, and the reception king in a season for the position, after His 116 receptions were the most by a tight end in NFL history.

Ertz is entering the prime of his career and had his first 1,000-yard season in 2018 amassing 1,163 yards while being named to his second Pro Bowl.
