Eagles looking for a ‘Matthew Stafford package’ in trade return for Carson Wentz

The Philadelphia Eagles are set to part ways with quarterback Carson Wentz and according to Adam Schefter, Howie Roseman wants a king ransom.

The “Matthew Stafford” package as described by some, is what the Lions gained after trading their franchise quarterback to the Rams for a third-round pick this year, two future first-round picks, and quarterback Jared Goff.

A trade “could happen as early as this week,” according to the report, with the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears showing the most interest.

Philadelphia would be forced to absorb a cap hit of $33.8 million in dead money on the 2021 cap if they trade Wentz before March 19.

The Eagles will likely move Wentz before his $10 million roster bonus is due on the third day of the new league year.

The Eagles hired Nick Sirianni as their new head coach on Jan. 21.
