Eagles’ Lane Johnson heaps praise on Ryan Kerrigan before Week 1

Washington Redskins pass rusher Ryan Kerrigan has a way of commanding attention on the football field — especially when it comes to his NFC East opponents.

Just ask Lane Johnson, offensive tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles. When asked what it’s like to go against Kerrigan, he simply said “it sucks,” according to NBC Sports Washington’s Peter Hailey.

He wasn’t done there, but he could’ve been.

“Anytime I go against him, you gotta be on your A-game,” Johnson said. “In this league, you can’t really slack, and if you do, you’ll get exposed. As far as him, he’s a class act, a fearless competitor and really the heartbeat of their team.”

Kerrigan has made a habit of terrorizing any and all opposition over the years, including his NFC East foes twice per season. The fact he’s never missed a game speaks to how often he’s been in his divisional foes’ faces.

Johnson won’t be the last opponent to praise Kerrigan this season, though the stature of player he is speaks to how highly regarded the Redskins star is throughout the league.

Regardless of the game’s outcome, this is the sort of matchup that makes football fun and should be one of the highlights to watch.
