Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Josh Huff was reportedly arrested early Tuesday morning for possession of marijuana and a gun after he was pulled over for allegedly speeding.
Huff was stopped on the New Jersey side of the Walt Whitman Bridge, which connects Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The Camden County prosecutor’s office is investigating, sources have told KYW-TV, Philadelphia’s CBS affiliate. It is unknown whether the firearm is registered and Huff is permitted to carry it.
“We are aware of the incident today involving Josh Huff,” the Eagles said in a statement issued on Tuesday afternoon. “At this point, we are gathering more information.”
Huff, who was selected by Philadelphia in the third round of the 2014 draft, has 13 catches for 72 yards and one touchdown reception this season as part of an Eagles receiving corps that been regarded as one of the team’s weaknesses.
The 25-year-old also scored on a 98-yard kickoff return in a win over the Minnesota Vikings, making him only the fifth player in team history with multiple kickoff returns for touchdowns, joining Timmy Brown (five), Derrick Witherspoon (three), Steve Van Buren (three) and Brian Mitchell (two).
