Eagles’ Jason Kelce addresses drama over Jalen Hurts benching

It’s Wednesday, now three days removed from the Doug Pederson benching of Jalen Hurts that so many perceived at tanking (and if it was, it was a good thing!) and which no one will care about soon.

But it’s still being talked about by Eagles players including running back Miles Sanders, who said “nobody liked the decision, nobody.”

On Wednesday, it was center Jason Kelce who took to Instagram to post his lengthy thoughts, and they were mainly focused on Nate Sudfeld, the QB who replaced Hurts in a tight game against the Washington Football Team. It’s perhaps helpful to clear the air with Sudfeld, given how much people criticized Pederson over bringing him in.

Some takeaways: Kelce did ask Pederson if he was taking Hurts out and then the center started working with “Suddy.”

“At no point was anything from me or anyone else confrontational,” he wrote. “We all knew leading into the game that Sudfeld was told to be ready to play, and that Doug wanted to see what he could do in a game situation.”

He went on to talk about the confidence the team has in Sudfeld and that he “is a guy we can win with.”

All in all, it’s a good way to calm some of this down, a veteran leader basically saying, no harm, no foul, let’s move on. Good call.
