Eagles injury update: Doug Pederson rules DeSean Jackson out vs. Lions

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson provided an injury update for several offensive players on Friday morning, officially ruling out DeSean Jackson against the Lions while still leaving the door open for Alshon Jeffery to still play.

“DeSean will be out of this game,” Pederson said Friday via the team’s official website, before adding, “I’m still optimistic” about Jeffery.

Jackson and Jeffery both suffered injuries against the Falcons in Week 2, forcing them to leave Sunday’s game in the first half after a handful of plays. After meeting with medical personnel, it was revealed that Jackson is dealing with an abdominal strain, while Jeffery is recovering from a calf strain.
