Eagles HC Doug Pederson taking a ‘wait and see’ approach on Carson Wentz being the backup QB vs. the Saints

The Eagles are going with Jalen Hurts at quarterback against the New Orleans Saints and the assumption would be that Carson Wentz would be his backup.

During his Wednesday zoom meeting, head coach Doug Pederson put more wood on the fire when his response to a question about Carson Wentz being the backup appeared to suggest that the Eagles franchise quarterback could be inactive.

We’ve established that Hurts is now the starter, but Pederson’s struggles with answering questions from the media now make it appear that Nate Sudfeld could be the No. 2 quarterback against New Orleans.

We’ve gone from Hurts being selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft to some 8 months later, Doug Pederson taking a wait and see approach on his backup quarterback.
