Eagles HC Doug Pederson gives insight into why he isn’t considering benching QB Carson Wentz

The Philadelphia Eagles are struggling as a franchise and all positions, but when you’re one of the highest-paid players at your position, the blame for all the bad times usually fall at your feet.

Carson Wentz is a $128 million quarterback and with such a contract comes huge expectations and even bigger calls for your job when things aren’t going well. After the Eagles 22-17 loss to the Browns on the road, head coach Doug Pederson confirmed that Wentz would remain his starting quarterback.

After the loss, Pederson gave some insight into why he’s sticking with his embattled signal-caller.

Wentz had another turnover on Sunday, but he did it behind an offensive line that at times only had one starter available and a wide receiver group filled with young players and an aging Alshon Jeffery.

The Eagles appear to be searching for an identity on both sides of the ball and 2020 could ultimately turn into a rebuilding season with growing pains. If that’s the case, playing through the struggles can only be a positive for Wentz as he works to play 16 games in two straight regular seasons.
