Eagles’ GM Howie Roseman admits that his “attachment to veteran players” is a weakness

Philadelphia Eagles GM Howie Roseman met with the media for the first time since training camp on Wednesday morning, and he addressed several topics.

Roseman has been criticized at times for sticking with or re-signing veteran Eagles players who have slipped as players or approaching the twilight of their career.

As the Eagles top decision-maker, Roseman admitted on Wednesday that he gets attached to players and it’s definitely a weakness that he has as an evaluator.

Last offseason, Roseman extended the contracts or acquired the rights to seven players who were deemed up there in age.

Jason Peters – 37
DeSean Jackson – 32
Andrew Sendejo – 31
Jason Kelce – 31
Brandon Graham – 30
Malik Jackson – 29
L.J. Fort – 29

Kelce went on to be an All-Pro for the third straight season, while Fort would eventually blossom this season with the Baltimore Ravens.

The Eagles have been stockpiling draft picks for years now and looks like Roseman is set to start jettisoning some veterans who’ve outlasted their time in Philadelphia.
