Eagles give former Steelers S Terrell Edmunds lowball offer

For the second time in free agency, former members of the Pittsburgh Steelers who were contributors left for other teams and got below-market contracts. We first talked about wide receiver Steven Sims and how his contract with the Houston Texans made it seem as if the Steelers didn’t even try to sign him.

Now, we see the contract safety Terrell Edmunds got with the Philadelphia Eagles and are left scratching our heads again. A case could be made that Edmunds took a significant pay cut with Philadelphia. The total cash value for his contact this season is $2 million and last season with the Steelers it was $2.537 million.

A contract like this has to make you wonder if there was any conversation between Edmunds and the Steelers and if so, what it entailed. No one is confusing Edmonds for Minkah Fitzpatrick but he’s been a steady performer throughout his career and over the last two seasons been much improved. He’s started 75 of 79 games and has five career interceptions to go with 410 total tackles.
