Eagles fans deemed some of the happiest in ranking of NFL’s most miserable fan bases

Philadelphia Eagles fans have received a bad wrap over the years, but after a Super Bowl in 2017 and the possibility of three straight playoff births, perceptions about the Birds’ biggest supporters have changed.

ESPN.com recently released a ranking of the NFL’s most miserable fan bases. Had this ranking come out five or six years ago, or before Doug Pederson replaced Chip Kelly, the Eagles may have been really high up on the list.

With the recent success of the team, Doug Pederson’s coaching style and Carson Wentz’s arrival, Eagles fans received a really low ranking, something that can be deemed super positive.

Coming in behind only the fan bases of the Colts, Steelers, Packers, Seahawks, and Patriots, the Eagles had the No. 27 most miserable fan base.

27. Philadelphia Eagles
Total score: -7.44
All-sport rank: 100
Ranking by category: Championships, 30; Playoff berths, 22; Playoff wins, 29; Heartbreaks, 11; Rival comparison, 26

Where they’re especially miserable: The Eagles’ defense of their Super Bowl LII title was a bit uneven, as they had to ride some more Nick Foles magic to sneak into the playoffs. After a fortunate wild-card victory over the Bears, Foles’ good fortune ran out against the Saints in the divisional playoffs, as the normally sure-handed Alshon Jeffery saw a Foles pass go through his hands and into New Orleans cornerback Marshon Lattimore’s at the two-minute warning for the game-ending interception as the Eagles were driving for a potential game-winning touchdown.

Topping that list were fans of the Bills, Jets, Browns, Dolphins, and Lions, the top-5 teams with the most miserable fan bases.
