So far, this NFL offseason has been filled with quarterback drama. From Deshaun Watson requesting a trade from the Houston Texans to Matthew Stafford and Jared Goff trading places with the Los Angeles Rams and Detroit Lions, there’s already been a ton of movement.
Now, the latest quarterback drama comes courtesy of the Philadelphia Eagles and Carson Wentz. Following Wentz’s decline in 2020, coach Doug Pederson benched him and turned to rookie Jalen Hurts. While Pederson is no longer with the Eagles, Wentz’s frustrations remain with the franchise, as he reportedly wants out of Philly.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Eagles are expected to trade Wentz in the coming days. More than that, Philadelphia is looking for something along the lines of what the Lions got for Stafford in exchange for Wentz.

Schefter also reports that the Bears and Indianapolis Colts have been among the teams interested in Wentz.
The Bears are desperate at quarterback, which has been the case for awhile. So naturally, they’re going to be mentioned and interested in every quarterback conversation.
While Wentz would be an upgrade over Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Foles, it’d be difficult to justify shelling out a package similar to what the Rams gave up for Stafford — two first-round picks and a player.
Wentz has several things working against him — his regression, injury history and a massive contract where he’s owed $25.4 million next season.
But he could have some things working in his favor, including experience running a similar offense and quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo on staff.
With Wentz expected to be traded within the coming days, stay tuned.
